When preparing our annual carpet cost guide, we consider all these factors to provide you a solid forecast of costs in the South African marketplace.


Carpet (installed)

This is the price per square metre for a new carpet, installed. The price includes the cost of the carpet itself and the labour and installation material cost. The total cost largely depends on the chosen carpet material. The cost of a carpet typically runs from R300/sqm to R500/sqm, averaging at R400/sqm.

I have two areas with parquet flooring - 1 off approx 36sqm and the other 15 sqm that is partially sanded and sealed. I want to resand and reseal both these areas. No skirting required. I now live in an old farm house in which the carpets are very old and very stinky. I have a budget. I got a quote for vinyl flooring with skirting amd sealant and self-leveling, but it's too far above my budget. I'm willing to do laminate and see what's the best quote I can get. I wanted sealant because there seems to be water coming in, but we've sealed the roof and the courtyards where there's water build up during rain.

25m2 Shutterply floor to be covered by roof and ceiling and then allround glass stacking doors to follow. Once completed, let's cover the shutterply with a beautiful cost effective vinyl. Looking to purchase the vinyl and install myself, alternatively could be installed by supplier if the price is right.

Not sure of the size of the area. Still need to measure or you can come out and measure as well. This is for outside of the house. I want to install a type of wooden planks or flooring - something durable and weather resistant. I do not want paving blocks so I need to know if there is a type of wooden or laminate that can work for an outside area.

We live in a VERY old house - almost years old. Our wooden floorboards have been almost completely destroyed by time, neglect, and wood borer. Previously, my mother was staying in the house and was advised that she'd need to sand the floorboards down to bare wood before exterminators could come and pour poison down but she only had a weekend to do it so all the remaining boards have been very poorly sanded with a hand-sander. We are asking for quotes to just do the kitchen for now as there is a big hole where the boards have snapped - but over time we hope to do the entire house when we can afford it.
