Before deciding on a gate, you should think about the style of your home exterior, about the type of the door that will suit you best (sliding or swing gates), about the property size (so you can choose the right size), about maintenance you are willing to do and, lastly, about your budget.
It is usual for gates to open inwards. In some cases, it is even illegal for gates to open outwards, into public property.
Swing gates usually work more quietly and have less repair issues because there are not as many moving parts as are found in slide gates. However, sliding gates will save you much more space inside or outside the driveway. The dual swing gates open like a set of french doors. Since the length of the open gate is cut in half, it is often times easier to have this type of gate for residential driveways.

I am wanting to replacing my driveway sliding gate with a new metal wood clad one. The concrete driveway may need some cutting in as the existing system is too high and our vehicle struggles to get over it.
