I hired Bradley from 4waysconstruction. I needed the job done urgently. He said it would be done in 1 week and I paid him R20,000 to begin the job. After that it was a nightmare, excuse after excuse why it was not done on time, and 6 weeks he told me the job was complete, 5 weeks behind schedule. There was no way he could have kept his word, it was impossible to complete the work in 1 week. Earlier on, Bradley sent me a photo of how the steps would look and I expected it to look like the photo he sent me. So when I finally saw the finished work (bear in mind I am in Port Elizabeth and I paid him to do the job at my friend’s house in Sunnyhill). It was a flimsy sub standard work. I am still in Port Elizabeth, from the photos I have seen I am afraid to walk up the stairs he built. The stair have been joined in 2 places. The support poles for the top pedestal have been joined in 4 places. The thickness of the support poles appear to be inadequate and all the joins are sub standard. When I confronted him about the poles and stairs he said “the photo was just an example, and good luck in finding the correct length, that is why he joined them”. What rubbish, he used cheap “offcut wood” instead of going wood supplier and buying the correct length beams for the stairs and support poles. The correct wood is readily available, from any reputable wood supplier In the photo he sent me there are 3 support wood rails for the stairs, but what he gave me was 2 support rails. The structure from the photos I have is that the structure he built for me is secured to the wall with wood screws, not rawl bolts, which is required for masonry work. When I confronted him he ridiculed me, saying everything I had complained about is rubbish, and I just did not want to pay the remainder of what was owning. I was quoted about R31000 and I had already paid R26,000 so just a small amount of about R4000 was owning, which I was and am still willing to pay. Bradley not willing to rectify his mistakes or to make any attempt to satisfy his customers. Had he just made a small attempt to satisfy me, I would have been very happy to work with him and pay the small outstanding amount. As a result of this bad experience I recommend you do not send him leads for work in the future. If you need more information like the photos, or anything else do not hesitate to contact me. Regards, Stephen Lang

Hi Stephen. Thank you for your review. it saddens me that you are not happy with the work although you have not personally seen it and are going on these uncompleted pics, i am more than happy to send you the details of the very reputable timber suppliers who will confirm that those 76x76 timber comes in 2.5meters and they do not have any longer than that. You also maintain that there is chipboard screws holding the stairs to the wall and this is totally not true and i told you that we have bolts holding it into the wall. I suggest that when you are in JHB then contact me when you see the finish product and then if you are not happy then i can do as you ask, i'm only saying this because you are saying that it is very flimsy, i have explained to you that i did not use 38mm thick timber but done it in 50mm timber instead for more strength given the length of the stairs. With regards to the timelines, you were aware that when i booked the installation, there was a heavy storm in JHB that Friday, i then informed you that i will be going away for the long weekend and would only be back the Wednesday and then i offered you a refund because i assumed you did not want to wait, from which you then said you would wait. When the team contacted you in my absence, you told them to contact and make arrangements with Jeffrey of which they did and everytime it did'nt work out. Jeff would answer late or would not take calls when it was needed, i experienced the same and you know that you had that issue as well. When i got back, we would pitch up to site and then get told that by 12h00 we need to leave again as nobody will be home after that, there was lot of unnecessary up and down from no electricity to nobody available when we needed to work and when the guys did get in, it would be a rush because they cannot be there long, i myself went there on 2 occasions to nobody been available despite making arrangements, even when i went to make the door frame and hang the door inside it was a rush as Jeff had to leave again. With regards to the payment, there is a reason why we have payment structures in place for various types of projects, and this states clearly on the quote form and when these are not adhered to, it makes things very difficult for contractors to do what they need to do, and i'm speaking for all contractors when i say this. We also give our clients a guarantee certificate when the work is completed for their peace of mind, knowing that should anything go wrong, you call us and we come out and rectify the problem, our admin did send you an email about the guarantee, however we cannot issue this if the job was not paid for in full or the second payment was not honored in full as per our accepted quote form. So when you are back in JHB please feel free to contact myself or Michelle and we can have a meeting on site where you can see the actual finish product because it will be very difficult for you to keep making assumptions from the pics. looking forward to your call on your return. Regards, Bradley.
