Claim profile for freeI am looking for an experienced builder for a small renovation project in Cyrildene, Johannesburg. The work includes demolishing a non-load-bearing wall next to the kitchen, removing the rubble, building new walls for a relocated bathroom, and repairing the affected floor, ceiling and walls. The bathroom will be moved only a few metres away. The sewer and plumbing position has already been checked and confirmed. Plumbing can be handled separately. I mainly need a reliable builder for demolition, brickwork, plastering, waterproofing, tiling and general finishing. Please provide an itemised quotation for labour, materials, rubble removal and the estimated completion time. Please also send photos of similar work and contactable references.
We want to turn our current canopy ("afdak") space into a braai area. There is a roof ready. We want to remove the paving, lay a foundation and build walls with a built in brick braai. We want small windows on both sides with a sliding Dore on the other side. The area is attached to the house so only need to close 3 sides.
Initially, we have manhole where the manhole ring and cover site higher the existing ground level. The same manhole cover and ring were collected from another sewer manhole which has vacant land surrounding it (located in the same estate). This is an inconvenience for the resident of that stand as this removes much need space to park and manuvre vehicles on the stand. The manhole was previously left open but since the house was under construction and to achieve occupation, the temporary solution was to place the manhole ring and cover on top of the manhole. We are looking for a contractor who can procure and install the manhole ring flush with the existing ground level. I have attached a picture of the manhole ring. The Supplier recommended ductile iron DSΦx90 c/o Φ C, and recommends the following installation procedure: • Manhole ring removal, • place a layer of concrete mix around the manhole ring, make sure the surface of manhole cover to be the same level as surrounding paving bricks, • place the manhole cover on the ring, • pour the concrete mix around the frame of manhole cover, make the surface smooth, • place the paving bricks around. • Hence, we are looking for a quote for the following: 1. procurement and installation of the recommended manhole cover, flush with the existing ground level (same level as the ground level). 2. Removal and placement of the existing manhole to its initial sewer manhole. Please advise if you need further information.

The project is an extensive sqm+ double-storey exterior renovation. It focuses heavily on defect repair, damp-proofing up to 2m, and a complete resurfacing from rooftop to foundation to protect the structure from the elements. Phase 1: Surface Preparation & Paint RemovalScraping: Completely strip all loose, peeling, and degraded existing paint down to the raw plaster using high-pressure washing, mechanical grinders, or manual scrapers.Cleaning: Wash the walls to remove dust, dirt, and salts.Safety: Erect scaffolding or elevated platforms, as this is a double-storey building Phase 2: Crack Repair & SealingRaking Out: Widen existing cracks to allow for deep penetration of sealing materials.Sealing: Fill all cracks and voids using a flexible, waterproof elastomeric sealant or crack filler (extending from the rooftop to the base).Waterproofing Membranes: Embed reinforcing polyester membranes over larger joints and structural stress points for added durability. Phase 3: Waterproofing & Damp Protection (Base to 2m)Foundation Perimeter Excavation: Lightly expose the base of the exterior walls to ensure total coverage.Bituminous or Liquid Rubber Application: Apply a heavy-duty, rubberized bitumen or flexible liquid waterproofing membrane (like Sika or Plascon systems) around the base and up to the 2-meter mark on the ground-floor walls. This serves as an impenetrable barrier against rising damp and groundwater. Phase 4: Priming & PaintingSanding: Sand the newly repaired and waterproofed surfaces to create a smooth, even texture.Priming: Apply a high-quality alkali-resistant primer or plaster primer to bind the surface and prevent future paint peeling.Topcoats: Apply two coats of high-grade, UV-resistant exterior acrylic or textured waterproofing paint (e.g., Dulux Weatherguard or Plascon Wall & All).
To build a square meter room that needs to house 6 showers, an open locker room and a space for a recovery unit, build a small reception area/desk, add a basin in that space which will also be a juice bar, add a false floor to a mezzanine level where 4 office spaces will be divided with partitions
Conversion of an existing double garage and outbuilding into a residential dwelling. The existing brick structure and concrete slab will remain. The project includes constructing new internal partition walls, complete electrical rewiring with a new distribution board, plumbing for one new bathroom, installation of a basic melamine kitchen, and converting the existing garage into habitable living space. The existing bathroom will remain in its current layout (needs a door into existing garage), with only a new toilet and new taps installed (existing tiles, shower and basin to remain). The roof requires waterproofing, replacement of roof screws where necessary and repainting, but no roof replacement is required. Works also include installation of new aluminium windows and external doors, laminate flooring throughout, plastering and painting of new walls, and making good all finishes. No built-in bedroom cupboards are required, only standard kitchen cupboards. The existing structure is generally sound, and the project is a renovation and conversion rather than a new build. Quotes should include all labour, materials, electrical and plumbing compliance certificates, and contractor supervision.

I am looking to renovate my home. It is a very old house that I am currently looking to modernise. This would entail getting a pro’s plan first to see how the transformation would go. Currently the renovation would include changing window frames from old to aluminium for the whole house, adding verandas where possible, changing the roof completely to align with the new design etc. I will share the pictures when you reach out so you can see the house as it is at the moment
