He laid vinyl flooring incorrectly and it all had to be re-done. When we raised these issues early such as the uneven screed and lumps and bumps in the floor he stated that it would not be a problem. However, once the job was done and we had got in another floor specialist to complete the job he elaborated how neither the screed was laid correctly as there were rake marks from raking the screed, as well as rubble and bumps within the screed causing the floor to lift in certain areas just a few days after the flooring was put in. This first contractor had insisted it was an "easy fix" and that we were "complaining over nothing" however when given the opportunity to fix the flooring, nothing was addressed as the flooring is already lifting in areas just a few days after the installation. There are also gaps between the floor and the skirting where the floor tiles were not measured incorrectly to cover the space. Additionally, incorrect adhesive was used for vinyl flooring further exacerbating the lifting of the vinyl tiles. The varnishing of the skirting was also quite messy and there is now varnish staining the new floors. We now have to buy additional screed and vinyl flooring as well as paying someone else to fix and finish the flooring.
