Frequently asked questions
-
What can I expect from the first session of individual therapy?
During your first session, the therapist will focus on gathering information about your physical, mental, and emotional health, as well as discussing the concerns that brought you to therapy. It's an opportunity for both you and the therapist to decide if there's a good fit in terms of therapeutic styles and approaches. The initial sessions are crucial for setting the direction of future therapy, including discussing treatment goals and how therapy might progress. Remember, it's normal to feel a range of emotions during these sessions, and therapists are skilled at helping you become comfortable with the process.

How do I find the right therapist for me?
Finding the right therapist involves considering various factors, including your comfort with their gender, background, specialization in treating specific conditions, and availability to meet your schedule. It's also important to feel a personal connection and trust with your therapist. Many clinics offer initial consultations to help you assess the fit. Don't hesitate to switch therapists if you don't feel comfortable after a few sessions, as the therapeutic relationship is key to successful outcomes. Being open and honest with your therapist and engaging actively in the process are crucial steps towards achieving your personal development goals.

Is online therapy effective?
Research has demonstrated that online therapy can be as effective as face-to-face therapy. A study by the University of Zurich showed that patients undergoing online therapy for depression reported significant improvements, comparable to those receiving conventional therapy. Online therapy provides convenience, confidentiality, and accessibility, making it a suitable option for many, including individuals in remote areas, those with busy schedules, or people who prefer the anonymity it offer.

Couples therapy for relationship issues
We are married for +-9 years with a significant age gap.We have 3 kids of school going age Our marriage is characterized by abuse from my side. One could say that my wife's subsequent choices with wrong friends,as well as hurtful actions are probably caused by my actions over the years. She has since withdrawn herself emotionally, and is considering divorce. She is, however, open to counseling,as a last resort. Both of us wants things to be the way it was during our courtship. We both have since apologized to one another for all the hurtful things said and done.I am convinced our marriage is at this stage because of unresolved issues which weren't addressed earlier, and we should have gone this route previously.I admit, ashamedly, for putting her through this ordeal and am really hopeful for your assistance. There is fortunately communication between us,in fact there has never been a communication break down between us.My wife recently admitted that the love she felt for me is no longer there, but she still has hope that we can save our marriage.
