• What kind of flooring should I use if I have pets?

  It would be wise to consider vinyl, tile, or carpeting screened for stain resistance, since hardwood floor can damage easily. Laminate and LVT are also a safe option.

• Can I install new flooring over my existing flooring?

  You can install certain types of flooring (vinyl, laminate, hardwood, carpet, etc.) over existing flooring, if the surface is firm, hard and flat. You cannot install anything over a layer of any kind of floating floor.

• What kind of flooring should I get for my kitchen and bathroom?

  There are waterproof laminate and vinyl flooring, and you can even get hardwood that is quite moisture repellent, but the safest option are ceramic or porcelain tiles. As there is less moisture in the kitchen, you can get more creative there.

• What are some of the differences between hardwood and laminate flooring?

  Wood floors are more likely to scratch or dent than laminate. Wood scratches can be made less obvious with the use of corrective pens, oils, etc. There are a number of products available to help you with that. If you choose a floor with distressing, then those scratches just become part of the character of your floor.

• Is it possible to install parquet in the bathroom?

  If you wish to install parquet in damp rooms, such as bathroom, you should select a timber species with low expansion and contraction characteristics, and a timber with a low speed of absorption of moisture (such as oak). Ideally, we would recommend products with 2 or 3 layers. It is also advisable to lay one or two rows of tiles or stone immediately next to the bath/shower or basin to allow for any spray/splashes. But even with this precautions, installing parquet in the bathroom would mean increased work and maintenance expenses. Still, we cannot deny the aesthetic value of it.

• How much parquet do I need?

  When buying parquet, you will need to know you room area (in meters square). You calculate that by multiplying the width (in meters) with the length (in meters) of the floor. Saying that, you should allow for at least 10% of wastage. Some wood will undoubtedly go to waste because of endings, cuttings, etc.
