Do I need an architect if I want to build a house in South Africa?
A professional that is registered with the South African Council for the Architectural Profession must submit the building plans before extending, renovating or building a home.
We have built a new braai room and added the furniture - basically a table with 8 chairs and a bar counter with 4 stools. The room has zero decorations in . I need someone to help me get the room cozy and bringing it to life. I will need decorate it over time as I get money to do this. I am planning on decorating it with quality but cost effective decorations. (Mr Price etc) Perhaps one or two expensive statement pieces. We want to go the Nguni route but I cannot imagine this without some greenery. The space is very limited - so we won't be able to add furniture. It has stack doors on both sides, a glass door leading into the house and the other wall has a pizza oven and braai. It has a high ceiling with nice wooden beams. The walls are empty. I am too scared to go out and buy decorations as I am sure nothing will fit together. The house doesn't have a theme. I tried when we bought the house two years ago but with disastress outcome. Nothing works. So the house will need decorating in the near future. Room for room.

I need the bedrooms furnished, there are eight in total. Along with that I need the living room, bar area, home office, gym and outdoor spaces furnished. Three rooms in the home need tiling some have wooden floors and carpet and I want this changed. The paint in the kitchen is peeling on a small area and needs to be fixed. One of the bedrooms needs a new Bathtub as the existing one doesn't meet my needs. The doors in the living room and bar room offer no privacy and I want these replaced for doors that offer more privacy. Finally I need the large window in the kitchen area to be dimmed or frosted, it is see through and neighbors can see us from the outside. One more thing, I want to replace the living room chandelier with a different one, I'm not liking the style of the one we found in the house.

The specific rooms that desperately need attention are: - courtyard, that we would like to enclose into a functional laundry + storage (5-6m2) - the kitchen (10m2) - 2x bathrooms (combined = +-11m2) Additional concepts might be needed for a built in bookshelf/ cabinet above our queen bed, and a linen cupboard in the hallway. We are installing a new kitchen and refurbishing our wooden floors in open flow lounge, dining room, kitchen. Tops are being installed next week Wednesday and wooden floors will be finished then too. This is a big area of about 85sqm, which includes a scullery. The kitchen design and colours are finalised.
