Is it cheaper to build or buy a house in South Africa in 2025?
The short answer is that it is cheaper to buy an existing house in South Africa but every year less so.
I need the bedrooms furnished, there are eight in total. Along with that I need the living room, bar area, home office, gym and outdoor spaces furnished. Three rooms in the home need tiling some have wooden floors and carpet and I want this changed. The paint in the kitchen is peeling on a small area and needs to be fixed. One of the bedrooms needs a new Bathtub as the existing one doesn't meet my needs. The doors in the living room and bar room offer no privacy and I want these replaced for doors that offer more privacy. Finally I need the large window in the kitchen area to be dimmed or frosted, it is see through and neighbors can see us from the outside. One more thing, I want to replace the living room chandelier with a different one, I'm not liking the style of the one we found in the house.
I have just become the owner of a square metre apartment with no furnishings. The supplies have been withdrawn. But here are some photos to give you an idea. I'd like some recommendations for decorating the walls with different types of mirrors, the idea being that the apartment should be bright. If you have any advice on furniture....please don't hesitate.

I have just rented a 2 bedroom apartment, open plan kitchen dining and living area (1 room) that I would like help with selecting curtains, furniture and colours for fabric and custom furniture (all cupboards are built in and main lighting is done throughout the house).
We would like an updated look and feel of the house that we have been staying in for 3+ years now. The specific rooms that desperately need attention are: - courtyard, that we would like to enclose into a functional laundry + storage (5-6m2) - the kitchen (10m2) - 2x bathrooms (combined = +-11m2) Additional concepts might be needed for a built in bookshelf/ cabinet above our queen bed, and a linen cupboard in the hallway. Possible redesign / storage solutions for the open wooden staircase. We are looking for a total remodel and cohesive feel throughout the space: ie. tiles, wall finishes, cupboards, light fixtures/switches, (tiny) kitchen solutions for appliances in these spaces..
I’m moving into my first apartment in The Blyde Riverwalk Estate in Pretoria East. I need someone to help me furnish the place in a modern, sophisticated, elegant, and minimalistic way. I like rustic, industrial, wood, black designs. I want to keep it at a budget of R40 or less. The kitchen is already equipped with a metallic coloured fridge, dishwasher, and washing machine.
We are installing a new kitchen and refurbishing our wooden floors in open flow lounge, dining room, kitchen. Tops are being installed next week Wednesday and wooden floors will be finished then too. This is a big area of about 85sqm, which includes a scullery. The kitchen design and colours are finalised. We need assistance with types of backsplash for kitchen, flooring for small area in scullery and then layout of furniture for lounge and dining areas. We would like to use as much of our current furniture and decor but are happy to upcycle and make some changes. We need help with colours too, and styling. I will be sharing the following with you: • Existing floor plans of the space • Preliminary 3D designs and layout concepts • A breakdown of how we intend to use each area In terms of scope, we are looking to: • Reconfigure the internal layout through partitioning • Install additional bathrooms, including showers and basins • Create designated studio areas (Pilates equipment room and mat studio) • Include a reception area, waiting area, and small café section • Install HVAC systems and make minor electrical adjustments There are no major structural changes planned — the work is primarily internal alterations.
