He was friendly, but the work wasn't up to standard.
We asked the contractor several times to check the prices before he quoted, because we have no lee-way when the contract is accepted. Once the project started, he kept requesting more money than his initial deposit for a range of reasons. Despite our understanding that only certain materials were to be used per our client's request, the contractor kept trying to use cheaper materials by saying he couldn't source the materials, he should have already sourced. Which wasted time and angered the client. We had to source the right materials for him. He assured us he was done with the work. Then we requested an addition to the drywall. When we received photos of the finished product, the finishing work was appalling. More photos were submitted with work that wasn't complete. The client was furious. We asked that the work should be corrected so we could do the final payment. The contractor was warned that if the fixes were not done by the next day as agreed, the final payment would not be forthcoming. The next morning, the client went to inspect the work, and nothing had been done. But the contractor assured us that the job had been done. The client threatened to sue us, and refused to have the contractor continue. We had to get in a new contractor to finish the work. The original contractor said it would take an hour, but the new contractor had to work through the night to make the deadline. The original contract was fully paid, the balance of the work on the second contract that was not done (but he said was done) and still had to be done between the two projects (which he also said was done) was much more than the amount the original contractor was not paid. And a working fluorescent light that was moved incorrectly, no longer worked and had to be totally refurbished.

to: 1. Break into my existing garage wall and install an outside aluminium door. 2. A carport should be erected as per specifications, attached to the garage building, resting on two pillars as per specifications. To level the garage floor with the outside tar surface for wheelchair access. 3. The quote must only cover labour, as the owner will supply the materials per the list supplied by the contractor.

Good day. We are moving out of a shop and we need to hand back the premises as a "white box". Walls and doors needs to be repaired and painted white. It's +- 90m2 room and I'm guessing the ceiling is about 2.4m to 2.7m high. One side(entry side) of the room is basically windows and doors only which does not have to be painted except for the little bit of exposed wall. We need this done end of April, Ideally between 28 and 30 April.
