We would like a hybrid system with minimum use from Mogale City. Our current electricity bill is less than R per month. Our neighbours all run 8KVH systems with various configurations mostly with 2x 5 lithium batteries. All seem to have limitations when the weather is poor, even though some have many panels. We cannot have a period where we are powerless as my daughter and partner work from home and are heavily reliant on the Internet and computers.

The project will power everything excluding the geyser and stove. Also, it will be on top of the car port and not on the roof of the house. Bought the solar panel (5KW), the battery (7.56 kWh) and 6 solar panels including the brackets and rails. What’s missing is the combinerbox/ inverter DB board plus the cables.

I’m am looking at 8 panels and on a garage roof and about 8 to 10 panels on a tiled thatch roof. The thatch roof will require structural changes to support the panels on the tiled roof. Because of the shape of the roof which cause irregular shading I will also need micro inverters to be installed. I have a Victron inverter and two Dyness 5kw batteries installed. I would need a further Victron 5kw inverter and one more Dyness battery.
