Do I need an architect if I want to build a house in South Africa?
A professional that is registered with the South African Council for the Architectural Profession must submit the building plans before extending, renovating or building a home.
As a school we are wanting to renovate our staff room. I attach an architect's proposed plan. It will include renovating the kitchen, putting vinyl flooring, replacing chairs and tables, building new pigeon holes for 72 teachers, replacing stack doors to the outside patio and upgrading the patio area with a screen. Want to build a double garage next to existing house (attached)with a flat parrapit roof withIBR sheeting.At back of garage a 3x6 kitchen which will lead from existing house lounge. Garage 6x6 and kitchen 3x6 so total area 54 square meters. I have more than enough plot area so not going over building boundaries etc.
