I purchased a property in Johannesburg, which has since been transferred into my name. Before the purchase and transfer, I was not informed that there was no lawful water meter serving the property or that the water connection may be illegal. I was only told that the water pressure was low and that I should contact Johannesburg Water. After contacting Johannesburg Water, their technician inspected the property and advised that there is no meter in the meter box and that the water supply is illegally connected. I was advised that I must apply for a new 20 mm water meter to regularise the supply, at an estimated cost of approximately R23,00 This issue appears to have existed before transfer and was not disclosed to me. The transferring attorneys have written to the sellers and the bank, but the sellers are not responding to those emails or messages from an agent I would like legal advice on my rights, who should be responsible for the cost of correcting this issue, and what action can be taken to obtain an urgent resolution and recover any costs I may incur.
Hi, I just need assistance with completing my personal tax return. I have a company car and more than 90% of my travelling is for business purposes, as we travel to various mines and factories across South Africa. I do keep a detailed travel logbook. (If not fully completed and you assist with it as well) I also have a medical aid and pension fund, as well as an RA, although I have not made any contributions to the RA for the past few years. Hi, I’m currently obtaining several quotations for a residential solar and battery system for our home in Glencairn. I will compare the proposed system design, equipment, expandability and total installed cost before selecting an installer. This will be the first stage of a longer-term project. Our aim is to gradually reduce our reliance on the grid and potentially become fully off-grid in the future. Expandability and long-term system design are therefore important to me. For the initial installation, I’m considering: - Deye 8 kW single-phase hybrid inverter, or a comparable high-quality alternative - Approximately 4.5–5 kWp of solar panels - Approximately 10 kWh of LiFePO4 battery storage - Full-black solar panels preferred - Grid-connected with City of Cape Town - System should be capable of future feed-in/export - Initial backup for essential loads, with the possibility of moving towards whole-house backup later Our current electricity consumption is approximately kWh per month. There is sufficient roof space. The main roof has approximately ENE and WSW-facing sections, so I would like the PV layout and MPPT configuration to take both orientations into account. The inverter and batteries can be installed in the garage. The main DB is located in the kitchen. I would like the system to be designed so that we can later add significantly more battery capacity and PV without having to replace the inverter or other major components. Please provide an all-inclusive installed price, including: - Exact inverter make and model - Panel make/model and proposed layout - Battery make/model - Mounting system - All cabling and installation materials - AC/DC protection and required switchgear - Integration with the existing DB and grid supply - Any DB modifications required - Labour and installation - CoC - City of Cape Town SSEG registration/compliance - Commissioning and monitoring setup - Equipment and installation warranties - VAT and any other charges I do not want to receive an initial quotation followed by additional costs for items that are reasonably necessary to complete and commission the installation. Please clearly identify any potential costs that are not included in your quotation. My current preference is Deye, but if you do not supply Deye or recommend another high-quality system, I’m happy to consider alternatives. Please explain why you recommend that system and how it compares in terms of reliability, expandability and future off-grid capability. If you recommend a different PV or battery capacity, I’m also happy to consider it, provided the technical reasoning is explained. I am comparing several quotations and would prefer to handle this process ONLY by email at this stage. Please do not call me.
