The project started with a thorough assessment on 18 May after initial discussions on 17 May 2026. Different options for approaching the project were explained to us, allowing us to make an informed decision on the best solution. We were actively involved in selecting materials and appreciated being consulted throughout the process. When challenges arose during the bathroom foundation work, the team communicated them clearly and discussed the available solutions with us before proceeding. We appreciated being kept informed and involved in decision-making. Despite some delays and concerns along the way, the quality of the workmanship has been impressive so far. The team has shown a willingness to listen to our concerns and make adjustments when issues were raised. Overall, we are pleased with the standard of work delivered to date.
While the quality of the work has been good, there have been several concerns regarding communication, timelines, and project execution. We were initially advised that once materials were delivered, the kitchen would take two days to complete and the bathroom another two days. However, material delivery took ten days, and by the fourth day of the kitchen project, it was not yet halfway complete. We were also assured that no hammer would be used during demolition, as we were led to believe that more suitable tools would be used. During demolition, a hammer was used, and only after questioning this were we informed that the alternative equipment could potentially damage the structure. This information should have been communicated upfront. There were also instances where construction decisions caused concern. Part of the newly constructed kitchen wall appeared out of plumb, and although we were assured it would not be noticeable once completed, this was not reassuring. In addition, the team had stated that they would allow a newly built wall to dry for a full day before removing existing supporting pillars, but work to remove the pillars began the following morning. We had to raise the concern ourselves before the team stopped. Overall, the project has given us the impression that constant monitoring is required to ensure commitments and agreed procedures are followed. The pace of work has also been significantly slower than originally promised.
