I have a dispute with the Agency through whom I rented a property for my Mother-in-law. She vacated the property 6 months ago and our deposit has yet to be repaid. The property suffered flooding from pipes that were blocked by tree roots and also from the property above during the tenancy causing damage. The Agency is now seeking to hold us liable for damages that were clearly evident prior to occupation and that were caused during occupation through no fault of the tenant. Despite the fact that the quotations for damages does not equate to the full deposit, the Agent has now decided they will withhold the full deposit. As a matter of principle, I cannot stand for this.
