We have a room built against a hill, which means that there is soil directly against half the height of one wall. When it rains, water in the soil seeps down and through the wall, damaging the carpet and the paintwork in the room. What is needed is comprehensive damp-proofing along the length of the wall, and down to foundation level.
Existing multi-story building with approx sqm (Phase 1) flat concrete roof at Tuks Hatfield, Pretoria is 40 years old. Existing torch-on waterproofing needs to be repaired. Extractor fans are located on concrete plinths on the roof. The waterproofing work will need to be done in phases to ensure extraction equipment serving labs on lower levels remain active. The roof is covered with precast concrete pavers. These will have to removed temporarily, stored on the roof during the repair work and the re-instated.
