First step before waterproofing an area is to clean the surface to remove dust, grease, rust, paint and any other material which may affect the adhesion of coatings. After cleaning the surfaces, verify the dectivity and if necessary fix it in order to avoid water stagnation. Lastly, prepare the surface (the preparation process will depend on the type of surface).
A properly installed waterproofing system should last you anytime between 10 and 15 years. Once the client approves the estimate then an appointed contractor is informed. Pricing - includes material & labour. Draws are paid on progress and not a deposit - that tells me a contractor is not positioned financially - material on site is another matter altogether. See JCB for standard contractual info.
leaking roof
We have an IBR roof with four valleys. We have recently treated the roof for rust and repainted it. In the process the workers seem to have loosened some screws, as now the roof is leaking. We have replaced and sealed all the loose screws, but it is still leaking.
