    To ensure the safety of electric fence, any electric fence system has to have a valid Electric Fence System certificate of compliance (EFC), issued by a registered Electric Fence System Installer (EFSI). The law is valid for electric fences on all properties that the public may gain legal access without permission from the owner.

  • What happens if I don’t have EFC?

    Without a valid Electric Fence System Certificate of Compliance, property owners, body corporates, business entities and home owner associations become civilly and criminally liable for injuries caused by their electric fence system.

  • Who can install electric fence systems?

    Electric fence installations may only be done by a registered Electric Fence System Installer (EFSI). Before hiring a professional, be sure to check his certificate.

  • What is the minimum height of electric fence?

    The minimum height of electric fence in South Africa is 1.5 meters.
