Do I need an architect if I want to build a house in South Africa?
A professional that is registered with the South African Council for the Architectural Profession must submit the building plans before extending, renovating or building a home.

My wife and I would like to convert the garage space into a two story 2 bed 2 bath self contained flat. Top floor of the garage is already being used as a 1 bed 1 bath accommodation. Bottom floor is presently operating as a beauty parlour. We have tried to draw “plans” to give an idea of what we would like but need professional advice and professional plans that a builder could use , also to meet local approval etc.
Hi. We would like to have an open plan kitchen, dining and living room, with a build in braai and space for a pooltable. It would be nice if the kitchen can have an island with a gashob. There should be a pantry, scullery, 4 garages, 4 rooms and at least 2 bathrooms. 1 bathroom must be en-suite for the main bedroom. I want my bakery to be part of the house, it should have a double door and 3m x 6m or 4m x 6m should be enough. Thank you

The garage is 15 m x 7 m The avery is 7 m x 5.15 m I would like to renovate the garage into a 3 bed 2 bath house and the Avery into a "club house" bathroom and maybe a kitchenette. My elderly father eho is 81 years just completed a garage to room renovation. The garage has three walls and the third is resting upon a vibercrete wall and a supporting pole with a beam. I am aware that garage conversion do not needs plans for conversion. I want to make sure that the integrity of the structure is sound before anyone starts living there. The tructure is well over 35 years old. With the renovation extra weight has been added to the roof interms of insulation, battons and ceiling boards. Hence my concern.

Need to sell LPG my yard is sqm, just needed an outlay plan for such a business, no LPG pumping just cylinders only. There is a shack in the yard I bought the stand with it inside, contacted the municipality and the rural leadership they don't have a problem with that type of business in the area.
