Do I need an architect if I want to build a house in South Africa?
A professional that is registered with the South African Council for the Architectural Profession must submit the building plans before extending, renovating or building a home.
We want to extend our double garage by 1.5 meters and potentially modify the roof from being flat to being pitched, also the current garage door needs to be moved to another location on the pre-existing part of the garage wall. Our goal is to be able to park both our vehicles in the garage as well as have additional space for working. The current garage area is 6.5 x 6.5 m and has 2 seperate motorised doors. A fire safe door into the home (to be moved) and a back door to the side of the home (outward leading door).

I would like to specify that the house us in a slightly steep area. I intend to change the existing garage to two bedrooms with a bathroom. I want to build a new garage in the front with a carport attached to it In square metres I can't tell exactly but I intend to change the face of the house. I want a new garage at the front of the house with a carport attached to it. The old garage, I intend to change it to be a two roomed flat with a bathroom and small living area. I don't know whether this will fall in the quote I would like to change the shape of stairs from going downwards to the gate and that the stairs come from sideways
We have done some alterations to our house and we thought that the person who did our plans back then submitted everything. We have now sold the house and the new owner is looking for the plans, only to find out that the plans were never even submitted for the extensions. We have now fully moved to Jeffrey's Bay and need someone to help us sort this out asap!
