Do I need an architect if I want to build a house in South Africa?
A professional that is registered with the South African Council for the Architectural Profession must submit the building plans before extending, renovating or building a home.

We currently have a tiny house (4 m long by 2.3 wide ) which fits a double bed, shelves bath and toilet. We want to extend by building an upstairs section over the existing footprint (so 4 m x 2.3) with an outside deck extension that also acts as a double covered garage (no sides needed on the garage) just decking and paving floor. We require plans drawn up for an existing house, the plans were lost by the council, and we have some alterations that we have made and wish to include them on a new plan.
