About: The National Home Builders Registration Council (NHBRC) is a non-profit organisation that regulates the home building industry in South Africa. The NHBRC was established in 1998 and is responsible for the registration of builders, as well as for the investigation and resolution of complaints received from consumers. The NHBRC’s vision is “to be the premier regulator of the home building industry, protecting homeowners through effective regulation”. Some of the benefits that come with using a registered builder who is accredited by the NHBRC include: -Builders are required to have professional indemnity insurance which protects homeowners in case something goes wrong with their build. -Builders are required to warranty their workmanship for a minimum period of 12 months. -The NHBRC has a complaint resolution process which can assist homeowners if they have any problems with their build.
