I had a very disappointing experience with Shocking Sun. I paid a R7,200 deposit on 15 May 2026, and the installation was supposed to take place the following day, but they did not arrive. The installation eventually took place on 5 June and was completed the following day. I paid the remaining R1,872, but I never received the required CIC despite repeatedly following up. The system only worked for six days before shutting down on 12 June. I have contacted Hendrik numerous times since then, but the issue remains unresolved. It has now been almost three months without a working system. Very disappointing experience and extremely poor communication and after-sales service.
Dishonest, unreliable, and untrustworthy. DO NOT PAY THIS COMPANY The owner, Hendrik de Viliers, has proven to be dishonest, unreliable, and untrustworthy. When I first inquired about quotes, he presented himself as an excellent salesman. However, after paying a deposit on 25 May, he failed to arrive for three scheduled installation dates. I requested a refund on 9 June, which has still not been processed. In good faith, I gave him another opportunity to redeem himself, but once again, neither he nor his team arrived for the 3rd scheduled installation yesterday. Furthermore, I noticed suspicious activity with the HelloPeter reviews. On the morning of 3 June, there was a negative review posted. By that evening, four separate 5‑star reviews appeared from newly created profiles, all within the span of one hour. These accounts are clearly fabricated to mislead potential customers. Client is in Pinetown. We had two inverters installed and we need a COC certificate because the electricians who installed the inverters are no where to be found
We need to upgrade our 5kw backup setup to and off grid solution. The demand for power is probably around 10KW max, possibly more. Our biggest single consumer of power is a 2,2 KW booster pump from a borehole system.
