Do I need an architect if I want to build a house in South Africa?
A professional that is registered with the South African Council for the Architectural Profession must submit the building plans before extending, renovating or building a home.
I am in the process of buying an 8-roomed, single storey house that needs a “face lift up/makeover” to give it a modern look, specifically the front part of the house. As such, my expectations are as follows from architectural service provider: 1. To look at the house/plans, get our inputs and make recommendations regarding what make-over renovations could be done based on the current house plans; 2. Develop and provide complete make-over/renovations house plans for the execution of the recommended and approved make-overs/renovations; I will therefore like to understand both the processes and costs for delivering the above. Hello Sir I bought a plot on a seaside in Laaiplek Velddrift, about km from Cape Town Central, and will like to develop a 5-6 bedroom house that features everything a beautiful house can have. The house can be divided into 2 separates houses of 3 bedrooms each but just look like one house. The house can go one floor up, and very open for sea view and freshness all around.
