Is it cheaper to build or buy a house in South Africa in 2025?
The short answer is that it is cheaper to buy an existing house in South Africa but every year less so.

We are looking to renovate and redesign our home. Ideally we want a designer to source and execute the interior design to suit our needs and budget.

Currently have flat roof double story house with main bedroom upstairs. We would like to add 2 bedrooms upstairs plus a bathroom and raise the roof to a raised flat corrugated iron roof with an industrial look.
I'd like to explore costs with helping me update my lounge/kitchen area: 1) Right paint colour for lounge / kitchen area. 2) How to lighten dark furniture in room by mixing - all furniture is dark 3) Artwork for lounge walls -make it feel more homely 4) Suggesting and updating lighting fixtures 5) Updating lounge curtains - advice on if I can modernise them without having to buy new ones? 6) Storage options

We want to make our current garage building (separate from main house) a double story. We want to put in a wood floor because we think that a cement slap will be to expensive? Current building has a flat roof. Bathroom must be included.
