Is it cheaper to build or buy a house in South Africa?
The short answer is that it is cheaper to buy an existing house in South Africa but every year less so.
Hi. I am in the process of starting a major renovation and extension on my house. I have a contractor and am specifically looking for someone to assist me with certain finishes of the house eg. new kitchen design, choosing tiles and wall colours and designing the bathrooms & lighting. I will be using my existing furniture.
Nice and simple house without a lot of furniture. Greyish and beige furniture and paint with a little bit yellow and white here and there. One or two real plants and some artificial one's. The house must be just a worm family home and kids friendly. 4 bedrooms, kitchen, living room, dinning room,study room, 2 bathroom.
I currently have a two bedroom house with open plan lounge and dining area. I would like to change the interior of the house to be a spa with treatment rooms, I would like the lounge and kitchen to be the reception and the bedrooms to be treatment rooms. Renovation includes extension to four bedrooms and additions of en-suites for each; relocation of main entrance and new overhang; complete kitchen gut, relocation of new kitchen; more open concept flow between kitchen dining and living room; L-shaped stoep addition with stack doors. Plans drawn up waiting council submission. There is going to be quite a bit of demolition to get to open flow I desire. Looking for interior design services for modern farmhouse for entire house including the renovated spaces. House is square meters. Would need conceptualisation of interior finishes, furniture and related layout, 3D renders of the spaces and supplier list.
I am looking to redecorate my lounge and main bedroom only as budget is limited. Happy to consider trainees, junior members of a design team or freelancers as long as they have a good eye for colour and can put a room together. Lounge is 5m x 8m (4 large windows, loads of light) Bedroom 3.5m x 5m Sourcing for decor items from retail outlets preferred. I am not looking for bespoke custom made furniture at this point as my kids are small (4 & 7) and will ruin beautiful, expensive furniture. I've attached pictures of some styles I like.

I have purchased a house that has recently been built. I would like ideas on furnishing and decorating. So I have bought a brand new home, the kitchen has been designed by the owner already but not built yet. he also designed the cupboards for the bedroom but allowed me to make changes. I’m not sure how decorators work in terms of costs. Kindly send me infor via email or what’s app as I’m at work and cannot speak. We have bought a newly renovated stand alone house in Craighall. it has 4 bedrooms, two lounges and a dining room. My wishes: to have the home professionally decorated into a stylish, but comfortable home. It needs to be homely, but not basic. I generally like the traditional classic look but this house has modern elements and hence my need for assistance so that it doesn't look confused. The look needs to be sophisticated, but also functional because we have a toddler and family may still grow. Obviously it needs to be cost effective. Expectations: Never having used the services of interior design before, I am expecting collaboration on ideas, advise and sourcing right through to seeing to delivery and staging of the furniture and pieces.
